Fluidic Engineer

Your mission
  • Development of prototypes and devices integrating sensors, optical and microfluidic components
  • Analysis of existing microfluidic technologies and components for various sample processing steps and flow control
  • Contribution to prototype specifications for selected applications 
  • Realization and testing of prototypes for proof-of-concept use cases
  • Development of assays and assay performance validation on fluidic platforms
  • Interfacing internally with teams working on biophotonics, photonics, systems engineering, and biomedical science
  • Contributing technical expertise for proposals for grant applications and company partnerships
Your profile

Education and experience

  • Proven experience with microfluidics applied to healthcare/life sciences
  • A PhD or Masters’ of science (preferably in chemical engineering, chemistry, or biochemistry)
  • 2 years minimum of experience after the PhD, preferably in the industry
  • Innovative mindset and strong sense of initiative for developing multidisciplinary platforms for biosensing
  • Demonstrated research experience with published papers in leading peer-reviewed journals and/or products on the market
  • Experience with intellectual property literature, invention documentation and patent applications 
  • Experience of living and working in Switzerland with connections to either academia, research institutions, or the industry


  • Clear understanding of basic principles of microfluidics and bioassays 
  • Competence in several of the following areas: assay design, reagents preparation, assay implementation and testing, data acquisition and processing, computer aided design, microfabrication, fluid dynamics and modeling, biosensors, optics, surface chemistry and functionalization, bioreactors, technical writing
  • Extensive experience of working in wet labs, optionally working in cleanroom environments, acquiring and running scientific instruments and platforms
  • Excellent command of English and of one Swiss national language
  • Preparation of technical documentation of excellent quality
